Connectivism

  1. Memberships in professional organizations provide social networking through, committee meetings face to face but mainly through teleconferencing. Through these meetings knowledge is shared and ideas generated to improve clinical practice, teaching and learning. These professional organizations also provide conferences that allow for face to face networking and include podium and poster presentations that validate best practice for immediate adoption. The organizations also support “ Listservs” that allow for continuous dialogue among members. The National League for Nurses (NLN), provide Webinars and Webcasts for faculty development. The American Association for Critical-Care Nurses encourage access to nursing specific search engines that support research and evidenced-based practice. These forums of rich information exchange supports both cognitive and constructivist teaching and learning with technology providing the connection. Much of the teaching and learning we presently provided is supported by technology allowing for timely exchanged to meet the demands of the changing complex environment.
